Welcome

Dear parents, carers and friends of Grafton Primary School,

Welcome to our school website has been designed to give you information about Grafton Primary School and the way it works. We are proud of our school and all those working and learning in it. It has a positive and welcoming ethos, where all children are encouraged to do their best within a safe, happy, and hard working educational environment.

We believe in success for all, and we do our best to work in partnership with our parents and our community in raising achievement and reaching high standards and aspirations. We value home and work very closely with our parents, recognising that our school is a large Family which is loved and respected by all.

School Mission Statement and Aims

The aims and values set by the school community; pupils, staff, parents and governors, aiming to:

  • Create a calm, happy and purposeful environment for all children and staff, through positive management that reflects care, respect and support for each other, encouraging tolerance, discussion and co-operation at all times.

  • Provide a stimulating working environment and curriculum, which encourages learning in which children show interest, enthusiasm for their own work, independence and self-discipline.

  • Foster an anti-sexist, anti-racist and non-elitist philosophy amongst all members of the school, ensuring equality of opportunity for all.

  • Provide opportunities for children to achieve their full potential to develop their skills, talents and interests, within a creative and stimulating environment.

  • Facilitate children achievement and potential by setting high standards, resulting in a creative and carefully planned programme of work reflected in teaching and learning.

  • Work in partnership with our parents and the school community and fully embrace the Every Child Matters Agenda and principles.

At Grafton School we find co-operation between parents, carers and the school invaluable for developing good standards of behaviour. We wish to develop children confidence and promote awareness of others rights for the general good of the community. To ensure that all children are able to work and play safely, we expect pupils to observe the following:

  • We are always polite and thoughtful.

  • We listen and consider each other feelings.

  • We do not hit back but tell an adult.

  • We value each other work and celebrate each other achievement whatever that might be.

  • We work hard and are determined to do well.

  • We play fairly and co-operatively with each other.

  • We do not tolerate abusive behaviour such as abusive language, racist, homophobic, or sexist insults.

  • Grafton is a Bully-Free Zone and bullying will not be tolerated.

  • We respect adults, each other, the school environment, building and property.

  • We are sensible, friendly, truthful and caring.

  • We do our best to be in school on time and are ready to do our best when in school.

  • If you forget these rules or you have a bad day, remember: Own up, make amends, and resolve to do better tomorrow!

  • Always care for each other and know you belong to a family. We look forward to working with you and your children.
