WE WISH YOU ALL A HAPPY AND HEALTHY NEW YEAR 2021
Following the Government’s announcement to close all Primary Schools in London until the 18th January we thought it is important to ensure that you all hear from us as well.
As directed Grafton School will remain closed on Monday 4th January. This is not a decision that has been taken lightly, but it is one that we feel is in the best interest of our whole school community.
Earlier this week, when a list was provided by the Department for Education (DfE) of boroughs where schools would remain closed or open, Islington, was one of the few London authorities where all primary-aged children (unless clinically extremely vulnerable) were required to return to school from 4th January.
Given the particularly high rates of Covid infections across Islington, this decision has left us all at a complete loss. Islington’s infection rates continue to outdo those in other areas across London, where schools have been told to follow the government’s ‘Contingency Framework’ and open to only those children of key workers and those deemed vulnerable.
However, the Government’s decision this afternoon, after much discussion with the relevant authorities, informed us that all Primary Schools in London will remain closed with the view of opening on the 18th January 2021.
Please see attached letter from Carmel Littleton Corporate Director – People in Islington.
Our school will stay open only for key worker and vulnerable children, as it was during the first lockdown in March.
Our office staff will contact you if you fall in any of these categories or if your circumstancies have changed.
Best wishes and always keep safe
